Emergency roof repairs and structural damage to Leo's house.

Hi everybody.
I'm trying to raise money to help support my partner Leo to repair his roof and fix the structural damage caused to his house during the recent Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.

The front sections of the roof have been wrecked and lifted up by the force of the hurricane. Water is leaking inside the house, going over all of his belongings. As the power has been off for days where he lives, he is likely to also have resulting electrical damage to repair.

I want to thank everyone this week who have offered me love, hope and prayers for Leo's safety during this time. I have been completely overwhelmed with how many people have contacted me to support me through what has been the most horrific situation ever.

On Tuesday when the hurricane struck land and drove North through Jamaica it was the longest day ever for me and I wasnt even living through it! No contact with Leo. Phone lines down. Power dying on batteries. Pure panic, stress and feelings of helplessness. Wednesday continued in a similar way until brief contact was finally made during the evening. Typically, Leo was thinking positively telling me to relax! He was one of the lucky ones as he still had a home to call his own unlike many Jamaicans throughout the island.

Leo had returned home after sheltering in a friend's house away from the coast line during the hurricane. He had checked that his brother was safe and had money for food and then gone to help a friend by chopping down her half fallen mango trees to keep her and her four young kids safe. All whilst having not heard from his own two kids since the day before. His resilience amazes me.

People who know me well tell me I was lucky to have avoided going to Jamaica during the hurricane. I was set to go on Sunday then just hours before take off the flight was cancelled as I would arrive at Montego Bay Airport in Jamaica an hour and a half after it was due to close because of the approaching hurricane. I however was absolutely gutted I couldn't be there to support Leo through it all. Wondering what is happening from the other side of the world with limited on and off contact made my nerves shot! I have aged 20 years in a week.

So back to the purpose of this page. If you have anything to spare I know it will be appreciated however small just to give Leo a helping hand to get back on his feet. If you haven't that's fine too it's just my way of trying to help him, having spent the week making him completely panic-stricken with my erratic, paranoid calls and advice I gave him throughout the hurricane because i just wanted him to stay safe.

Thanks for visiting my page.
