Emergency Rescue - The Chetumal 10
Tax deductible
We are Beach Dog Rescue of Costa Maya Mexico, and this is one of our most heartbreaking cases.
Ten dogs in Chetumal, Mexico were slowly starving to death in the sun. Their owners oblivious to their suffering.
Our partners rushed to the scene and were greeted by dogs frantically trying to escape. They had no food or water. No protection from rain. Living on hard concrete in the sun. They were begging for help and living in their own waste.
The police were called. The owners explained they had rescued the dogs and it spiraled out of control. They had no money to feed them and didn't know what to do.
All of the dogs are boys - (5 puppies and 5 young adults).
The plan:
Together with the police, local volunteers and cooperation from the owner's we will provide:
- Food (they are starving)
- Vet care (including spay/neuter)
- Flea/tick/deworming meds (they are infested)
- Grooming matted fur
- A tarp to protect from sun
- Dog houses to protect from rain
We are working to get them into more stable homes.
Twice weekly check-in's will be done to guarantee the safety of the dogs. I know it seems crazy that the dogs are not immediately removed. Unfortunately, there are no shelters, limited fosters and no government services here for animals. This is the best option we have at the moment.
Please help us to give them the love they never had.
Love from Mexico,
