Hi, my name is Chrissy.

Yesterday morning I was a four-cat household. By the afternoon, I had taken in a mum cat (Beauty) and her three newborn kittens, just two days old.

These cats were not known to me. I was contacted about the situation and told the owner was struggling with serious mental health issues and could not cope. He said he was going to kill the kittens. When I heard that, I didn’t hesitate – a friend and I drove straight 35 miles to collect them and bring them to safety.

Beauty is a gentle little black cat with a white locket on her chest. She has clearly had a difficult and unmanaged life. This is believed to be her fourth litter. She is unvaccinated, has been living as an outdoor cat, and was in a household with other unneutered cats.

Despite everything, she is a lovely, trusting girl. She is already starting to relax, purring, making biscuits, and caring beautifully for her babies. All three kittens are feeding well and have already gained weight overnight, which is a very good sign.

I have over 25 years of experience breeding and raising cats, so I am confident in caring for mum and kittens at home. They are currently set up in a warm, quiet room, fully separated from my own cats.

However, there are some immediate and upcoming veterinary needs:

FIV/FeLV testing

Vaccinations

Treatment for a skin lesion under her front leg

Spaying once the kittens are weaned

Ongoing care for mum and kittens

I will be covering as much as I can myself, but I am on a limited income (pension), and this was a completely unexpected situation. I simply couldn’t walk away knowing what might happen to those kittens.

I am not a rescue, just someone who stepped in when it was needed — but I do have the experience to give this little family the best possible start.

If anyone is able to help, even a small amount, it would go directly towards giving Beauty and her kittens the safe, healthy future they deserve.
