Emergency Rent Help by Sept 20th

The last six months have been some of the hardest we’ve ever faced. After being unemployed for half a year, applying for job after job, going to countless interviews, and being ghosted again and again, I finally found work. My brother, a substitute teacher, struggled all summer without even a part-time gig. He is back to work now, but substitute teaching is unpredictable, and he only gets paid once a month.

We’ve been doing everything we can to stay afloat, selling anything that isn’t nailed down on eBay, scraping together just enough to keep up with the smaller bills. But between our car breaking down twice, the long stretch of unemployment, and the irregular substitute teaching pay, we’ve fallen behind on rent.

Right now, our rent due this month is $1,388.64, and we’ve been given until September 20th to catch up. But because my brother’s paycheck won’t arrive until the end of next month (and that will have to go straight to October’s rent), we’re asking for two months’ rent which is $2,777.28 total.

You may notice GoFundMe shows a smaller starting goal ($900). That’s because of their Automated Goal Setting, which adjusts as donations come in. But our real need is $2,777.28, and every milestone we reach gets us closer to stability.
