Community Rent Relief Fund – Opossum Collective MPLS

Opossum Collective is a grassroots community movement based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Like the opossum, we carry our own.

We are neighbors organizing to protect families facing housing instability, economic hardship, and immigration-related uncertainty. When systems fall short, community steps up. This is not a political organization. This is neighbors supporting neighbors.

Across Minneapolis, families are struggling to keep up with rent and maintain basic stability. Some are afraid to seek help. Housing instability affects entire neighborhoods. When one family loses their home, children are impacted, schools are impacted, and the broader community feels the consequences. We believe housing stability is community protection.

The Community Rent Relief Fund will:

• Deliver emergency rent support to families facing immediate housing instability

• Prevent evictions before they happen

• Directly stabilize vulnerable households in urgent need

• Connect families to trusted, community-based resources

• Protect the privacy and dignity of every family supported

• Provide clear, ongoing transparency updates without exposing personal information

Funds raised will prioritize stabilizing 4 households currently facing urgent need.

We believe housing is dignity, community safety begins with stability, mutual aid builds power, and transparency builds trust.

Our initial goal is $10,000 to stabilize 4 households in urgent need.

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps keep a family housed.
