Emergency Relocation Funds for the AlAli Family

Donation protected
The devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria is a disaster affecting hundreds of thousands of people. My husband's family is among them. They were already refugees of war, having lost their home, hometown, and community in Syria. They started a new life in Turkey, learned a new language, and integrated as best they could. They have faced so much discrimination and adversity in Turkey, both by the people and the government. And now they have lost it all again to the earthquake and are forced to relocate. This fundraiser is to help them relocate, sustain their living expenses for the next several months, and help them stabilize.

Hussein's mother, 2 sisters, 1 brother, and another sister with her husband and 2 young children were living in 2 apartments in the same building in Gaziantep. They left home during the earthquake in the middle of the night. They stayed warm in a neighbor's car for several days, and then in a mosque for several more, all while aftershocks continued. Now they need to find stable and safe accommodation. They didn't have a chance to pack bags or retrieve their belongings, so they have almost nothing. Three of them were working to cover the living expenses for the two households but their work is disrupted, so they will need funding for at least several months until they are able to find work again. Hussein's brother will try to go to Antalya where there is potential work in his profession, painting and plasterwork. His mother and two single sisters went to Ankara and they plan to stay there indefinitely or until their apartment building is deemed safe to return. His other married sister with two kids are temporarily staying with their in-laws in Gaziantep until their next steps are determined.

Hussein's father was living in Antakya with his wife and young child. They escaped their home just before it collapsed. Now they are sleeping in a tent in the cold with nowhere to go. Most of the city is destroyed and uninhabitable.

We are raising funds to support Hussein's family through this emergency and the long-term effects it has on their lives. Anticipated needs are listed below.
* Transportation costs away from the disaster zone to a stable and safe location.
* Clothes and personal care items for all of them.
* Living costs for three households for the next several months until they can find work, including rent, utilities, food, and supplies.
* Tools and equipment for Hussein's brother to continue his painting and plasterwork business.
* Furnishings and supplies for their new accommodations.

Your prayers will be greatly appreciated and your financial contributions will be immensely helpful. If you have questions or would like more information or updates, you can email me at [email redacted].
