Emergency Relief: Help Us Avoid Eviction

My name is Jay!

As I'm sure many of you can understand and relate to, my boyfriend Shaun and I are enduring financial hardships and are at risk of eviction due to debt, despite having employment and multiple sources of income. Today, after receiving a strong few knocks on our door, we received a court summons. Immediately, my body begin to shake as my anxiety kicked in. "What if this makes it impossible to find housing again?" I ruminated.

A couple weeks prior, we were notified by the housing management that we must pay by 3pm on Friday, March 29 or they will be moving forward with eviction. I've never been in this situation before, so close to having the scarlet E on our "record", something that many people in our situation are being punished for. It isn't fair and it's not right. But I hope we can all do what we can to uplift and support each other in the meantime.

I've contacted several government assistance programs and organizations, but aside from a one-time-only financial support of $300 we received from Oakland County (in January), all resources have fallen short. Nonetheless, we persist.

That said, I am also utilizing Medicaid and EBT. But even with that support, the cost of food makes it challenging to keep up.

As we are in immediate need of support, here is our ask, along with a detailed break down of our expenses and fees which covers 3 months worth of rent. 2 months of backpay and a month of support to help get us on our feet:
