As many of you already know, Kearstin and Kyle are expecting! However.. what should be the most blissful and happy time of their marriage together so far has been turned upside down in a matter of weeks.
Late Christmas Eve, Kearstin was urgently rushed to the hospital because she was losing fluid. Her water has broke for Baby A, her baby boy, at 17 weeks. There are a lot of unspoken prayers and hopes to be followed with this disheartening news, but transparently the best case scenario at this time is that both babies hang on so she can deliver a healthy Baby B as close to full term as possible. There is a high risk of infection, and there are many potential risks of losing both babies. We all wait on bated breath each week for new information at her next appointment.
In the weeks following this excruciating change of direction for her pregnancy, Kearstin has been incapacitated on STRICT bed rest and is out of work until after delivery. She can not bend, she cannot stand for long periods, she cannot strain or lift.. all she can do is wait. Within the next 6 weeks, hoping all goes as well as it can given these extreme circumstances, she will be hospitalized in Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga for the remaining five months of her pregnancy to be monitored and supported by her specialist and her team, to ensure we safely get Baby Girl to her parents earth side. This is going to be such a huge stress on absolutely everyone involved, but ESPECIALLY her, as she is already a mama of her six year old son Mateo. Not knowing what the future holds for your unborn children is hard enough, but to be so far from your child while having to endure through it is a pain I wish that she did not have to know.
All of this to say that Kearstin, Kyle, and their family desperately need all the help they can get. Between having to leave her job far earlier than could’ve ever been expected, regular household bills, doctors, new specialists, and a lengthy 5 month stay out of state on the horizon, “things are tight” is an understatement. It is my hope and optimistically my expectation that we can all come together and shower this family in whatever support we can reasonably manage to offer them in this time and the months to come. It’s going to be a very long road and all I want is to take a fraction of the stress my best friend is going through off of her and her husbands shoulders, so they can focus on loving each other and getting through this together.
