Hallo meine Lieben

Wir sind gerade in Sri Lanka und wollen helfen.

Meine Schwester (Samy), meine Freundin (Jacky) und ich (Selina) sind seit ein paar Tagen hier und haben selbst miterlebt, wie heftig die Naturkatastrophe das Land getroffen hat. Wir selbst hatten sehr viel Glück und mussten nur für 2 Tage in Kandy evakuiert werden.

Auch wenn sich die Situation langsam verbessert, ist das Ausmaß immer noch schlimm:

Mindestens 470 Menschen sind gestorben, rund 1.4 Mio sind von den Folgen betroffen. Viele haben ihre Häuser verloren und stehen ohne Essen, sauberes Wasser oder einen sicheren Schlafplatz da.

In den letzten Tagen haben wir hier viele Menschen kennengelernt, die uns Organisationen empfohlen haben und auch unglaublich viele Communities, die sich gegenseitig unterstützen, obwohl sie selbst kaum etwas haben. Genau dort möchten wir helfen, weil die Unterstützung hier wirklich direkt bei den Menschen ankommt.

Wir sind noch bis zum 14. Dezember in Sri Lanka und möchten die Zeit nutzen, um so viel wie möglich zu unterstützen.

Darum möchten wir jetzt eine GoFundMe-Aktion starten, um vor Ort Lebensmittel, Trinkwasser, Kleidung und alles Notwendige zu besorgen.

We’re currently in Sri Lanka and we want to help.

My sister (Samy), my friend (Jacky) and I (Selina) have been here for a few days, and we’ve witnessed firsthand how hard the natural disaster has hit the country. We got very lucky and only had to be evacuated in Kandy for 2 days.

Even though things are slowly getting better, the situation is still devastating:

At least 470 people have lost their lives, and around 1.4 Million are affected by it. Many families lost their homes and now have no access to food, clean water or a safe place to sleep.

Over the past days, we’ve met locals who recommended trusted organizations, and we’ve also come across amazing community groups who support each other even though they have almost nothing themselves. This is exactly where we want to help! Where support truly reaches the people who need it most.

We’re staying in Sri Lanka until December 14th, and we want to use our time here to support as much as we can.

That’s why we’re starting a GoFundMe fundraiser to help provide food, clean water, clothing and other essential needs directly to affected families.
