My wife and I have been part of different teams supporting families affected by the recent ICE immigration raids in the Minnesota metro area. Over the past weeks, I have stayed connected with six families, each facing unique and urgent challenges. Five of these families are still hiding in their homes, afraid to go out for work or even basic necessities due to risk of illegal detention and family separation without due process. Some have lost their jobs in the last 3 months, while others have just started new ones but are already two to three months behind on rent and utilities. Those that have new jobs have only about a week's worth of pay to draw from, making it nearly impossible to catch up.
All of these families have children, with an average of two per household, ranging from infants to teenagers. One child was even born during this crisis and had to be covertly returned home from the hospital while agents were illegally trespassing in private areas of the hospital. About half of the children are attending virtual school, while the others go in person with friends monitoring their bus stops for safety. These families have deep roots in our community—some have been here for just a few years, while others have called Minnesota home since the 1980s.
The funds raised will go directly toward covering urgent needs like rent, food, utilities, and essential supplies for these families. To ensure transparency and safety, I will personally handle the funds and am willing to provide proof (privately, upon request) of how the money is distributed, while protecting the privacy of those involved. Your support can make a real difference in helping these families stay safe, keep a roof over their heads, and provide for their children during this incredibly difficult time. I believe deep down in my spirit and soul that God brought these specific families into our lives and has allowed us to be His Ambassadors, peacemakers, conduits, and repairers of the breaches inflicted.
