Emergency Relief: Community Activist & Veteran Lost His Home

Donation protected
Our neighbor Elliott “Skipp” Roseboro is a lifelong resident of Bedstuy and a community organizer. From his time with New York Communities for Change, to his work helping to establish the Working Families Party, he has fought for housing rights for people across Brooklyn for decades.

And now, he needs our help. Skipp's home has been in his family for over 70 years, but he's now facing foreclosure. He doesn't want to leave the neighborhood he and his family have called home for almost a century, a neighborhood they've had a huge impact on. Skipp spent much of his childhood playing in the nearby Herbert Von King Park that his mother, Alma Carroll, helped to have renovated – she even helped get the city to add a recreation and cultural center along with an Olympic-sized public swimming pool a block away.

Skipp and his family have made this neighborhood a place where many want to live. Please help this activist and veteran stay in the neighborhood. Skipp needs emergency funds to place his and his family's possessions in safe storage and find a new home. Now is the time to give back to someone who has given so much to our community.

Thank you for helping this vital member of our community stay here.
