Emergency plastic cleanup for village in Uganda

EMERGENCY ALERT - organised by youth activist Andrew Sande (supported and managed by Hidden Plastic)

My community in Kazo and Katogo Ggaba, Uganda is on the brink of disaster! As you can see we don't have waste collection, and people live on top of plastic waste.

Plastic pollution has blocked 6 drainages leading to a major drainage outlet in Kawempe, putting lives at risk as soon as rains come. Previous storms have flooded homes, trapped animals and spread diseases. The elderly and vulnerable are most at risk. We can't let this happen again!

As a climate activist, I'm rallying support for an emergency cleanup. We've got volunteers ready, but need YOUR HELP to cover costs of specialist equipment and trucks to clear the blockage, make bigger drains and transport waste to sorting facility.

Every contribution counts! Your support will:

  • Clear blockages and prevent floods by digging deeper drains
  • Protect vulnerable community members
  • Ensure responsible waste disposal from plastic cleanup efforts
  • Educate villagers on how to prevent this crisis in future

Digger hire- $300
Trips to waste facility with truck hire - $450
Feeding volunteers, collection equipment purchase - $250

Total $1,000 or £750
