Emergency Moving Assistance Required
Hi, my name is Babette Ory. I’m 71 years old and the daughter of jazz legend Kid Ory, a pioneer of New Orleans jazz whose legacy helped shape American music.
Update
As of now, I need to be completely out of my four storage units by the end of June due to the exorbitant cost of keeping them. I'm still in the process of waiting for my new home to be ready by Sunday, June 1st. This transition has been filled with uncertainty, and your support is more important than ever.
Why I’m Asking for Help
After facing housing scams, severe storm damage, and a recent car accident, I’m doing everything I can to move into a safe, clean home. That home should be ready by Sunday, June 1st.
But there’s an urgent challenge:
I must clear out my four storage units by the end of June due to the skyrocketing costs. These units contain priceless, fragile archives of my father’s music—items that deserve to be preserved, not lost.
So far, I’ve spent over $6,000 on moving, storage, and emergency needs. At 71, and with limited mobility, I’ve had to hire professional movers to carefully pack and transport everything.
What Your Donation Supports
Moving and transport services
Storage fees for my father’s historical jazz archives
Temporary living costs until my new home is ready
Why This Matters
This is about more than just moving—
It’s about preserving a vital piece of American music history.
My father’s archives include rare recordings and memorabilia that must be protected and honored. This is also about helping a woman in her 70s, in a vulnerable moment, maintain her dignity and find solid ground again.
Every Bit Helps
Whether you can give $10, $50, or $100, it brings me closer to safety, stability, and peace of mind—and ensures my father’s legacy lives on.
With deep gratitude,
Babette Ory
