Emergency move from home of 13 years

Hello Everyone,

I am Sammy Castillo. Many of you know me as an artist and illustrator. Others know me as the Widow of Comicbook Artist Tommy Castillo. You’ve likely seen or met me at various comic cons over the years or even tuned into my Wednesday Live streams. As most of you know, I’m a pretty open and straightforward person and I’m always there to help and give advice and inspire new artists ready to take the plunge into being professionals.

However today, I need your help.

I am being forced to leave the home I have lived in for 13 years. I rented this house with my late husband Tommy since 2009. We got married in the back yard and I said my last goodbye to him in the living room. I was told by my landlord earlier this week that he has decided to sell the house due to his elderly age and difficulty in maintaining the property. This was definitely a shock being told I need to leave the place I shared with Tommy. I think I always knew this day would come, but it is still a shock regardless.

A super terribly timed shock as I have just spent thousands of dollars in march, exhausting my savings, to diagnose my neurological disorder and start treatment for it. I had planned this year to rebuild my savings, but the universe has decided differently.

So in short, I’m broke.

No matter how hard I work or how much art I sell or how fast I can paint, I just cannot make the amount of money needed to have a down payment and cost for moving in the short time frame I have been given. As much as I hate to admit it, I need help. Any amount of help is very much appreciated; from $1 to $10, it’s more than I have and gets me that much closer to getting a new home.

I plan on opening my commissions and selling paintings and art of Tommy’s I had planned on keeping to go towards the moving costs. You can find them on my website .

Again thank you so much for reading and helping. It was very difficult for me to do this as I am not great at asking for help when it comes to me and my personal circumstances but unfortunately this was just too far beyond my control to handle alone.
