My family is facing an emergency move after our power was shut off due to arrearages, and we expect to receive a 3-day pay or quit notice by the end of the week. Our household includes an autistic transgender teenager, an agoraphobic young adult, my disabled wife, and myself—I'm a disabled autistic Army Veteran currently enrolled in university, with my employment on hold due to the government shutdown. The loss of power has made our living situation unsafe and unsustainable, especially given the unique needs of everyone in our family.
We have reached out to every local resource and charity available, but all options have been exhausted. The government shutdown has also meant that there is no assistance through the veteran crisis line. We are now left with no choice but to move as quickly as possible to secure a safe and stable environment for our family. The funds raised will go directly toward a rental deposit, first month’s rent, utility deposits, and the costs of moving services and equipment.
Your support will help us get back on our feet and provide a safe home where we can begin to rebuild. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference for our family during this critical time. Thank you for considering helping us start again.
