Hi everyone,

Early In the morning of December 26th, the day after Christmas my almost three year old son woke me up and likely saved our lives. Our house was extremely hot and filled with thick smoke from a malfunctioning furnace that wouldn’t shut off. By the time the fire department arrived, the furnace was over 600 degrees and glowing red. They told us the house was moments away from catching fire and kept saying how lucky we were. They were having a hard time getting the furnace to shut off due to the wiring being incorrectly installed and it back feeding power to the breaker panel causing it to heat up.

We all got out safely, but none of our smoke detectors went off they were never properly wired, despite being told they were hardwired when we moved in.

Our landlord has refused to replace the furnace he believes “everything looks great and nothing is wrong with it” With winter temperatures dropping, we cannot safely heat the home. Our lease ends December 31st, and we are required to be completely moved out by January 1st we weren’t planning on having to move out but due to the unexpected circumstances we have to

This emergency hit right after Christmas, leaving our finances stretched thin. We never anticipated for a sudden move and we simply don’t have the funds as my husband works two jobs and makes just enough to pay the bills and keep food on the table. We are now we’re staying in a single room in my mother’s apartment with our two young children while we scramble to find a new place.

We urgently need help to cover:
