Hello everyone, this seems very odd for me to start on here and it took me a lot to swallow to ask this so this is my situation:
I was a full time employee at a Model Railway shop in New York City to help support my elderly father. He's 70 years old and just recovered from losing a part of his foot to an accident in 2019. This week our city has been starting to take action against the Coronavirus aka Covid-19.
Yesterday my job announced that due to me taking the subways to work that I was a prime candidate to have the virus and I would be on call for work. Meaning I would not have a definite schedule for work. I could be called in anytime, but I understand it'll probably be rare due to how long this virus will last. I support my father at home with all my money paying bills, cooking, cleaning etc. The last two weeks he hasn't left the house so there was more of a responsibility for me to make sure things are well. I do have some funds, but with next month looming overhead and the possibility that this will be the new norm for a while, I do need as much help to take care of him.
I've started to sell models, but know that won't really help in the long term. I'm only asking for $500 because I don't want people to think I'm asking for too much. All the money from this will go into bills, food, and medical supplies during this pandemic. I really am grateful for any help during this because I love my father, we share a awesome friendship that's been going strong since my mother passed in '09. He's worked all his life since her passing and I'm here to make sure nothing bad comes to our family. I spent a year taking care of him at home when his foot was cut off due to his diabetes, I've worked hard to make sure things stay peaceful in the house, but now with this in the horizon I do understand I am only one person.
Any donations are appreciated. Thank you for reading.
