Emergency Medical Treatment to bring my dad back home

Hi, I’m Tanya Piotrowski, daughter of Andy Piotrowski, for whom is in need of emergency medical treatment overseas.

He was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome while in Thailand and is currently intubated, paralyzed and unstable. I am are trying to raise the funds to begin his treatment at Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital in Chiang Rai, Thailand.

He needs immunoglobulin therapy, which could be a lifesaving treatment and would be the start to a long journey of possible recovery. The hospital in Thailand needs all of the funds upfront for the immunoglobulin, no payment plans— hence the urgency. They cannot begin his treatment until it is paid in full.

The immunoglobulin therapy is the only treatment there is for Guillain-Barré Syndrome, and it needs to be given within 2 weeks of the onset of symptoms. Once my father stabilizes, I will get him transported back home to the United States.

UPDATE 4/23/24:

I spoke with my dad’s doctor in Thailand, and it is too late for the immunoglobulin therapy which this GoFundMe was initially for. The infection has spread to his lungs, heart, and kidneys. The bacteria is antibiotic resistant.

His temperature has been at a steady 104°F (40°C). They punctured the carotid artery for an IV because his hands and feet are too swollen. He has been unresponsive for over a week, and on a ventilator and feeding tube since day 2.

The doctors at Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital, I can assure everyone, are very competent, and giving him the best care and treatments that are available. There is not much they can do with the infection not controlled.

I thank everyone with all my heart for your kindness, generosity and love. The funds are going and continue to go for my Dad’s care at Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital. I am still paying out of pocket for his current treatment and care at the hospital overseas.
