Hi, my name is Emma, and I’m from the United States. I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of the queer refugee community in Refugee Camps like Gorom/juba, and Kakuma refugee camp in kenya where hundreds of LGBTQ+ refugees are in desperate need of emergency medical support.
I’ve been working closely with Queer leaders and representatives who are dedicated in Gorom/Juba, kakuma and I created this campaign to help raise $20,000 to provide urgent care for queer individuals who have been marginalized, displaced, and left without healthcare.
THE CRISIS THEY’RE FACING
The LGBTQ+ refugees in Gorom refugee camp have fled intense persecution, sexual violence, and hostile anti-queer laws from countries like Uganda, the DRC, and beyond. They are now trapped in a refugee camp with little to no medical access.
Recent cuts in USAID funding mean that:
• People living with HIV/AIDS are no longer receiving their free monthly antiretroviral tablets.
• Children (many born of rape or forced marriage) are missing critical vaccines for malaria, measles, and polio.
• Lesbian and trans women lack sanitary products, increasing risks of infection and indignity.
• Outbreaks of typhoid, cholera, and malaria are rampant due to unclean water.
• Violent daily attacks from surrounding communities leave many with untreated injuries and trauma.
This is not just a healthcare crisis it’s a human rights emergency.
WHERE THE MONEY WILL GO
EXPENSE ALLOCATION ⬇️
HOW FUNDS WILL BE DELIVERED
Since GoFundMe is not available in their country, all funds raised will be securely transferred via PayPal and Sendwave directly their representatives and other verified community leaders in Gorom and kakuma refugee camp. These funds will be used exactly as detailed above, and updates will be posted on this page as funds are distributed.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Every donation matters:
• $10 gives a queer woman two months’ worth of sanitary pads
• $25 provides HIV treatment for one person for a month
• $50 covers vaccinations for one child
• $100 delivers life-saving trauma care to a survivor of a violent attack
If you can’t donate right now, please share this campaign widely. Your voice can help bring attention, care, and support to a community fighting for survival in silence.
THANK YOU.
This is more than a fundraiser it’s a call for global solidarity. These are real people with names, faces, and dreams who need your help to live.
THANK YOU FOR STANDING WITH US.
Emma
