Emergency Medical Supplies for Sam

Hi, this is Stephanie, Sam's sister. If you know us, we don't ask for help for anything.... but now we have to. There's been a lot of speculation in the past few months within our social circles that Sam has not been looking the way we all know her to appear....

It has gotten to the point that it was so noticeable that something is terribly wrong and many of us have been reaching out and begging her to get some answers..... she finally checked herself into the ER on Friday 12/15/23 and received some life altering news. Now we have no choice, but to ask for help!

Sam was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Her sugar level upon her first blood draw was 480.... normal is 126. She has been in severe diabetic ketoacidosis for what we now believe many may months hence her altered appearance.

You see, she cannot afford health insurance and the state of Oregon is extremely slow at processing her applications. In the meantime, the hospital doctors discharged her with her sugar levels still high in the 280 range and A1C level at 11.5! The amount of damage to her nerves and organs are yet to be seen..... meanwhile she is in desperate need of insulin and test strips.. insulin that she now has to inject into herself every time she eats... not to mention the entire diet change.

Our family is pretty devastated by the news to say the least. Of course right before Christmas, but we finally have some answers! Just not enough help.... the mental and emotional Rollercoaster begins.

On Monday 12/18/23 she will have to go on medical leave from work in an attempt to try and manage her illness and hope that social security disability will be approved..... prayers, wishes on stars and eyelashes
