Hi there! My name is Amanda Albright, and I’m trying to raise money for my sweet baby Olive. Olive is a 6 month old kitten who is the embodiment of love and gentleness. Last week, I noticed she started throwing up stomach bile and refused to eat for 3 days. I then took her to the vet ER and after an X-ray, a linear foreign entity was discovered. I was advised that immediate surgery was necessary since the foreign body most likely wouldn’t pass on its own. The ER kept her overnight to give her fluids and see if anything changed. In the morning on New Years Eve, I was able to transfer her to another vet clinic an hour from Iowa City and get her into surgery. The surgery is considered invasive with potential complications, but Olive is a very resilient little kitty, and, thankfully, the surgery went smoothly. She had swallowed what I can only describe as a whole hoodie string that went from her stomach to her colon. If the object wasn’t removed, she would’ve experienced ruptures in her intestine that would lead to organ failure. I was able to take her home yesterday to start the recovery process. The Surgery itself cost $975 with the ER visit being $800.
