My mother Rania Dolores is an Ecuadorian immigrant who despite limitations of resources and opportunity has helped me to thrive.
Sadly, given the unfair and expensive healthcare system of the US, my mother has been struggling with 3 recurrent dental infections for the past 4 months. The medical help she received was subpar and illegal because her “doctor” lied about being licensed. No lawyer will take her case because “she’ll win very little money.”
Even though she is insured, these procedures are not covered and instead all doctors can do for her infection is prescribe antibiotics. It has been months of the same process with chronic pain and no improvement. I’ve been trying to save money to help my mother which is hard and stressful due to the cost of living and the ongoing pandemic.
I am making this request because I worry my mother’s health will worsen from something that should be preventable but was made worse by our messed up healthcare system. We’ve seen time and time again what happens to Black and PoC people due to the lack of medical care given to us and I do not want my mother to be another victim of the system. Our goal is $10K but any bit will help speed up relief for Dolores Rania.
