Hello, most of you who are seeing this already know me, and you know that I've tried to be supportive of my 70 year-old mother after the loss of my father in November 2020. I've visited more, helped pay a bill or two, and now I prepare to head home to Texas for a while to provide care for her after a major surgery.

On Friday, July 29, mom went to the emergency room and was told she needed a major surgery - and please understand that I don't want to divulge the "why" here out of respect for her privacy. Though the initial surgery on Saturday, July 30, was successful, I've been told there may be a follow-up procedure, some rehabilitation, and ongoing home care for a while.

Mom retired in January 2022, and there isn't any additional income outside of her social security. She is lucky enough to have SOME medical coverage, but what exactly will be covered and what amounts will need to come out of her pocket are still unknown. If you are able, I'm asking for some assistance to soften the blow when the bills start rolling in...

I've set the goal for $3500, but I really don't know what this looks like over the next few... weeks? Months? The situation is really fluid at the moment.
