Our family needs your help to bring our beloved Joan home.
While enjoying a long-awaited cruise, celebrating her recent retirement and her joyful new role as “Grammie” to her beautiful granddaughters, Joan suddenly became critically ill after an infection quickly turned into sepsis, kidney and liver failure.
She was urgently taken off the ship on 11/3 and transferred to a hospital in Mexico, where she was put into a medically induced coma and on a breathing machine. The doctors in Mexico worked around the clock to stabilize her enough that she could be medically evacuated on 11/6 to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, CA, though she remains in critical condition in the ICU.
Unfortunately, international medical transport and foreign hospital costs are not covered by insurance, and these expenses are already overwhelming.
Things are far from over yet, as numerous teams of doctors continue to provide the critical care she desperately needs.
We are raising funds to help cover:
- Medical bills from hospitals in Cabo and San Diego
- Emergency air ambulance/medevac costs
- Family travel and lodging so loved ones can be by her side
Joan is a warm, kind, and generous woman who has spent her life taking care of others. Now it’s our turn to take care of her. Any amount, no matter how small, will help us bring her home and support her recovery.
