We are reaching out for help for my father-in-law after a sudden and devastating medical emergency. In December, what began as a small scratch on his hand quickly developed into a serious Staphylococcus Aureus infection, requiring antibiotics and ongoing treatment. Soon after, he developed severe gastrointestinal symptoms which were later diagnosed as Clostridioides difficile (C. diff), a dangerous bacterial infection.
While travelling home to Greece in January, his condition deteriorated dramatically mid-flight, forcing an emergency landing in Singapore. He was rushed to Changi General Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with Toxic Shock Syndrome, Pneumonia, and severe Clostridioides difficile infection. He was placed on life support in ICU while doctors worked to stabilise him.
Just as he began recovering, doctors discovered his large intestine had ruptured, requiring emergency surgery and leaving him with an ostomy bag. During his hospital stay he also faced further complications including fungal infections and Cytomegalovirus.
He is now stable but has suffered severe muscle loss from his long stay in intensive care. He is currently unable to stand or walk independently and requires extensive rehabilitation. Although doctors have cleared him to travel home, his recovery will be long and ongoing.
I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported our fundraiser so far. I’m so thankful for each of you. Last week, the hospital costs were at 218,000 Singapore dollars, but unfortunately, they have now escalated. We need to fundraise a minimum of 218,000 Singapore dollars to cover the hospital and his ongoing treatment. If you can, please share this or contribute once more—your kindness means everything to us.
We are raising funds to help cover the significant hospital costs and ongoing treatment. Any support, prayers, or shares mean more to our family than words can express.
