Emergency Medical Care for Eevee (our beloved GSP)
Donation protected

We are about to go on night three of hospitalization for our sweet 1 year old German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP), Eevee. We came home from work a few nights ago and she was lethargic and walking like she was in pain - hunched over. She had no appetite and I even came in with a bag of food that she showed no interest in. This alarmed us and it was after hours so we took her to SAVES in South Asheville and she has been receiving excellent care around the clock as they have worked to figure out what was going on with her.
Initially they determined that she had a fever and a raging UTI and so she was kept on IV fluids and antibiotics. They did what they could to control her fever. They began the process of testing to rule out all sorts of things.
It has been determined that she most likely has SRMA (Steroid-Responsive-Meningitis-Arteritis). The MRI and spinal tap to confirm this alone would be 3500. Our bill is already really high as it is and so we have already made the decision to go ahead and start the steroid treatment for her and forego that testing. Like most people, we are overwhelmed by both the agony of our young dog being so sick and worried about her while simultaneously trying to process the cost.
It is vulnerable and uncomfortable to ask people for money and this seemed like the best option for us right now. We have no expectations of reaching any specific goal and will be most certainly grateful for any extension of generosity that anyone can give.
Thank you in advance.
