Audrey Oakes is a beloved preschool teacher in Punta Gorda, and her husband Danny is a disabled Vietnam vet. In the past week, Audrey has been diagnosed with breast cancer and a tumor in her neck that is spreading into her bones. Surgery and a biopsy is scheduled for this week, but regardless of the results, she'll be out of work for at least a few months. Audrey and her husband are both a bit older and rely on her income for bills, including her husbands medication. There is no way they can pay every day bills without her income, not including the bills from the emergency room and surgery. She has requested that I post this on her behalf in the hopes that someone can help her and husband while they figure out this very difficult situation. Every little bit helps!

Update #1: Audrey has had both surgeries and is still in a lot of pain but is in better spirits. The doctors removed the tumor that was on her spine. They went in through the side of her neck first then through the back of her neck two days after. She is still waiting for biopsy results, but the doctors are thinking the tumors were from her breast cancer. Once they get biopsy results they can decide the next steps to take care of the breast cancer. She's hoping to come home in the next few days, but has to have a consultation with her surgeon first and see what her next steps are. Either way, PT and OT will be required for several weeks.
