Emergency lifesaving Surgery for Swiss.Mister.Oda

Hello friends and Swissy family,
My name is Kary and I am Oda’s Auntie—
just this past week Oda became incredibly sick and his mama had to rush home to be by his side. He needs our help, friends. In just 2 days his medical bills were over $4,000 and they are increasing. Please read below what his Mama has sent me regarding his health issues. If you can help in any way, it would be so appreciated ❤️❤️ Oda is a FIGHTER— please help him continue this fight!
“Oda will be staying at the vet a minimum of 4 nights if all of the stars align. He’s had multiple blood panels, x-rays, ultrasounds, with several more likely. He is slated for surgery as soon as he is clinically stable, but right now his platelets are too low. A blood transfusion is on the table, and the blood product alone is $2,000 for a dog his size.
Initially his fever was 106°. The vet has gotten that down with NSAIDs and fluids. His WBCs are around 30,000. He has an infection they haven’t pinned down yet, and he is getting two different IV antibiotics and steroids. His platelets have been dropping but the vet can’t find any signs of a bleed. It may be due to a resurgence of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.
He has a bladder full of stones, which have completely occluded his urethra and he requires a catheter to avoid bladder rupture. They will need to be removed surgically as soon as he is stable, and he can’t go home without that surgery.
His prostate is severely swollen, and the vet believes it is prostatitis. He has had several thorough ultrasounds on his testicles and prostate, and the vet feels confident it is not an abcess. That said… his testicles need to go. One is pretty swollen, which could be attributed to a number of things, including the infection. They will be biopsied.
The vet said if it were his dog he would fight hard and believes the prognosis is good. It is heartbreaking to have to discuss financials as a condition of survival, but that’s where I am. The bill as of now is $4000 with the surgery included. The longer he stays, the blood product, the additional labs and x-rays… every day gets more painful to consider that my failure to be able to afford him could kill him before his health issues
He is being seen by the incredible Dr. Nick Mannen at Carson Valley Vet. He has cared for Oda for several years. I trust him, and I trust that he knows what he is doing, is conservative in his treatment plan, and has Oda’s best interests. He cannot guarantee Oda is going to survive, but he certainly will not without intervention.
Oda is very low energy but was able to eat dinner last night, and licked the bowl clean for the first time since this started. The staff are shuffling rugs around to accommodate his silly hot lava floor theory. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the grass and the breeze together yesterday, and he is alert and watching other dogs. He tries to mark every tree we get close enough to, despite the catheter. Because that’s what he does. He is in good spirits but very tired and very slow moving. My heart hurts watching him and having to leave him there.”
