Emergency Life-Saving Surgery for Russ Kirsch
Donation protected
On Monday, October 10th, 2022, Russ was sent home from work as he wasn't feeling good. He called for a ride since he wasn't well enough to drive himself. Thankfully Shelly & Dan (sister and brother-in-law) were off work and able to quickly get Russ to the Emergency Room to be assessed.
Upon medical evaluation at the Emergency Department, it was quickly determined that Russ was in septic shock due to a severe infection on the bottom of his foot. After many tests and scans were complete, Russ was rushed back for emergency surgery to amputate his foot at the ankle and ultimately save his life. Several days later, after many bags of IV antibiotics were administered, Russ was stabilized and taken back into surgery to amputate at a proper level in preparation for his future prothestic.
At this time (11/02/2022), Russ is still in the hospital receiving full time rehab therapy to regain his independence and learn how to move forward in his new life.
Those who know Russ can attest to the difference he makes in so many people's lives. He may be quiet when you first meet him, but he has a huge heart, a great personality and a sense of humor that we all love. I can't think of a time that Russ has ever declined helping someone else out. This is our opportunity to step up and help Russ.
As you can imagine, Russ's medical bills and rehab expenses will be costly. Before he can be discharged from the hospital he has to have a safe place to live. This involves getting a ramp installed, obtaining medical equipment, arranging in home care and therapy, and eventually moving him into an accessible apartment.
We greatly appreciate all the prayers, love and support Russ has received so far. Any donation would be much appreciated.
