Emergency! Funds needed for Stray Cats TNVR
Donation protected
Thank you for helping me Help so many Cats and Kittens in Need. I am a independent volunteer Trapper. I volunteer my time to trap feral , stray and community cats
TNR is what I do
TRAP. NEUTER, RETURN .
We have a huge problem with so many Cats roaming the Streets unaltered. They were either Born in the Wild, Put out by their owners, dumped or abandoned. So many have no place to call home. So many are beeeding and having more kittens in these streets every day. I have helped many community members spay /neuter, vaccinate these cats that are being fed but needed to be spayed or neutered. They are sometimes in need of medical attention. They are breeeding out of control. We as a community need to pull together to stop this. If not we will see more deaths and disease and torture that is avoidable. We need to help slow the breeding down
I started this fundraiser for one colony. That colony was in deplorable conditions. I pulled baby kittens from there that didn't survive. I pulled some that were later diagnosed with FIP. The cost to treat this condition is huge. I currently have 2 girls that have FIP From this colony. I am trying to sve their lives
I need your help.
The reason for this fundraiser has taken on a whole new set of iissues. Originally was to TNR 25 cats and pull half-dozen kittens. Now that I have spayed and neutered over 30 plus cats and pulled 13 kittens . The after affects of this colony is devastating. FIP Feline Infectious Peritonitis is showing up with some of the kittens. Fraidy is fighting for her life to survive this terrible fate. There is hope. But she needs your help. The treatment for this condition is extremely costly. Please read my updates to see what has taken place and what you can do to help. It takes a village. With all of these sad chain of events . I changed the goal to reflect the cost it will take to Help Save Fraidy. Thank you for your help and kindness .
Side Note :
Originally I set out to spay or neuter 31 cats with 6 of them being kittens at a average cost of $75 to be expected and allowed for $100 per cat ..
Boy was I mistaken. There were 13 kittens in all and over 31 cats so far. The cost started out closer to $200 per cat to spay/neuter.
Eventually I was able to get some help using programs/vouchers that I was able to purchase or pay for at discounted prices for the spay/neuter. I was more than lucky to get some kittens to rescue!
But the cost of the entire project has exceeded the original goal of $3100 drastically. I have spent and continue to spend daily on this situation. Not to mention so do others who took some of the kittens from me.
The cost to care for these cats and kittens that needed help doesnt stop because they are now safe. It doesn't stop after they are spayed or neutered.
They are still alive and have to be fed and have medical attention that still needs to be addressed and paid for .
I did not factor the medical cost for the unexpected nor the cost of caring for so many that needed help. I ran into a situation where I had kittens I brought into my home to find refuge and was not prepared for the devastating results by doing so. I lost 3 kittens in a matter of days one right after the other. These kittens had to be *cremated as the possibility of contamination in the ground would be too great had they been *buried. (*Read further to fully understand ).
I had kittens who were so sick that had they not gotten immediate medical attention would not have made it either. I had kittens who were spreading one disease to the other and others spreading another disease. This was huge!!! These kittens had infestation of fleas, worms, maggots you name it. I had a outbreak of even more than treating them for fleas, worms etc. They had cocidia to giardia to panleuka all at one time. I then had to sanitize everything and if it couldn't be bleached it had to be tossed ! I'm not complaining please don't read it that way. I would do it all over again but with much more open eyes and awareness.
All of this was necessary to try to prevent further outbreaks or spreading of any contagious disease.
This unexpected chain of events also affected my own personal pets and a few others I was trying to care for til I could find them permanent homes.
I can tell you I learned alot in these short months about the possibility of what can go wrong when you have so many sick, malnourished struggling babies coming in one day after another and then weeks later more that followed.
This created THE PERFECT STORM for disaster.!!
Had it not been for some really great people in the rescue world who stepped up and helped me out I am not sure that the remaining 10 kittens would have made it.
With that said. This is why it's so important to spay and neuter. These babies came from a environment of unknown conditions and unfortunately those conditions played havoc on them and on the cats as well.
I lost one adult cat in the process of spaying/neutering due to unknown underlying issues we were not aware of. So please take the time to stop think how can I help. Reading this is one thing. But I can tell you being in the trenches trying to fix a problem. While doing so you realize its not just a matter of trapping and s/n them .. TNR . its more .
A situation like this can get so out of control at a much deeper level. It can have a domino effect. It is bigger than what the human eye can see or what others are even remotely aware of.
Its another level of madness.
It's sad ! it's heartbreaking !! It's avoidable!!!
. Please help if your able. Please help stop the breeding. Please don't think its someone else's problem.
Thank you for all you have done and continue to do. Together we can make a difference.
My name is Robin Christensen Cook. I’m a long term animal rescuer in Greensboro—-trap-neuter-release, get sick animals to vet (and then my house for care), feed several feral colonies, help find lost pets—-all out of my own pocket and I’m going into debt. I just became aware of a horrible situation in Greensboro—-makes me cry! There are at least 31 cats in very bad condition living under a house —15 teenagers, 10 adults and 6 kittens. Living off human scraps the property owner puts out—-canned Mac and cheese, old pimento cheese and sour cream. None are spayed/neutered and the older cats are terrorizing the young cats/kittens. I need any help you can give me so I can try to help them. No amount is too small! No more free spay/neuter vouchers for ferals at shelter—so will cost $75 each to spay/neuter (or have the euthanized if too sick). And they need food and medical attention. Please share with folks you know who might could help them! Thank you!
