Hi, my name is Silje.

I’m trying to raise funds for my amazing friend Karen and her daughter, who have been struggling in a country where the system has offered them very little support. She lives in Uruguay with her younger brother and her daughter. They are facing eviction from their apartment in just two days.

Karen lost her mother to cancer only a week ago and is now facing eviction because she can no longer afford the rent on her own. With barely any time to grieve, she has been forced to navigate an overwhelming and inhumane situation. She has exhausted every option available to her and is desperately trying to gather enough money for a deposit, yet finding a landlord willing to rent to her has been incredibly difficult.

On top of everything she has already endured, Karen has been searching for work for years without any success. As a single mother, she has faced constant set backs, and she has not been able to afford further education that could improve her opportunities. She has sought help from government programs, churches, charitable organizations, doctors, and even family members, but she has been turned away at every step.

Unfortunately, GoFundMe does not support her location, and her banking situation makes receiving donations difficult as well. Because of this, I am creating this fundraiser on her behalf and will be accepting donations for her.

I will post proof and receipts, and every dollar donated will go directly to Karen and her daughter. I have also included photos of her petition to extend her stay at her home in the updates
