Emergency Housing Need for Maeve, a queer, disabled Advocate

I'm reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Maeve, who urgently needs our support.

Maeve is an incredible individual: a queer, disabled student at Georgia Southern University and the passionate founder of the Students with Disabilities Advocacy Group, a vital grassroots nonprofit. She's built a community for disabled persons not only in Statesboro but also nationally with SDAG. In addition to this, Maeve is also president of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA), uplifting the queer community in Statesboro with planned events in conjunction with BoroPride.

Recently, Maeve was outed to her family as queer, leaving her without a safe place to stay until her new apartment lease begins on August 1st.
As a blind, now ambulatory wheelchair user who cannot drive, Maeve faces significant challenges, with much of her limited income going towards routine health expenses, food, and tuition as she pursues her Master's in Social Sciences at Georgia Southern University. This makes finding immediate, temporary housing incredibly difficult.

We're raising funds to cover Maeve's essential needs from July 25th until August 1st, ensuring she and her beloved emotional support cat, Fig, have a secure place to stay.

This includes:

Temporary lodging (motel, hotel, or Airbnb): For the cheapest lodgings, it will take about $600 for the duration of their stay from July 25th to August 1st, when their lease begins.

Transportation: About $200 for rideshares or other accessible transportation methods, to get her to appointments, to and from the motel, and to pick up medications.

Food, medication, and supplies: An additional $200 is needed to cover groceries, vital medications, and necessities for both Maeve and Fig, as well as to help stock her new apartment with these essentials once she moves in. The deposit and first month's rent for her new apartment have already depleted her reserves for these crucial items.

Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a profound difference in providing Maeve with safety, stability, and peace of mind during this challenging time. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
