I am currently dealing with an unsafe housing situation in Warren, Michigan during one of the coldest weekends of the year. Since Saturday morning, my apartment has been without running water. After leaving for two days because the unit was unlivable, I returned home to find that there was also no heat. Maintenance came out but was unable to fix the problem. My landlord told me they would provide a hotel room due to the conditions, but they never followed up. With no heat or water and freezing temperatures, I had no choice but to pay for emergency lodging out of pocket. Despite multiple emails and maintenance requests, the issues remain unresolved. Repairs keep getting delayed with automated messages changing the service dates, and I am still without basic necessities. I have contacted Code Enforcement and am pursuing legal action, but in the meantime I am facing unexpected hotel costs, transportation expenses, and ongoing housing instability. I am asking for help to cover emergency lodging, basic necessities, and legal filing costs while I work to hold my landlord accountable and secure safe living conditions.
