My name is Leah, and I am facing an emergency that has turned my life upside down. The sewer line under my house, made of old terra cotta pipe, has broken over time, and my basement recently flooded with seven inches of water. Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover the cost of digging up and replacing the lines because part of the damage was caused by tree roots. As a result, my family and I are currently living in a motel since we cannot use water or toilets in our home. We have been dealing with this situation for a week now, and it has been incredibly stressful and overwhelming.

Replacing the sewer lines is a major expense, and I am unable to qualify for any loans. I am 74 years old and still working, but after having shoulder replacement surgery last year, I can only work a few hours and am unable to use my right arm. We cannot even begin to clean the basement after the flood until the sewer line is fixed. This has left us in a very difficult position, and I am not sure what to do next. I pray we have no more heavy rains while we wait for help.
