Emergency Help Needed — Rent Crisis After Funds Were Stolen

Hi, I go by the name Conner, and I’m in a really tough spot right now.

I just received a certified letter saying that $1,796 in rent was never paid for May and June—as I had trusted my brother to send our shares to the landlord and be taken care of. Instead, he spent the money behind my back and left me completely blindsided. I only found out when I got home from work and saw the eviction notice. By then, he was already packing to move in with a friend.

Now I’ve got, since writing this, three days to pay nearly $1,800, and that’s not even including July’s rent ($898), which is just around the corner. That pushes the total to about $2,700—and I just don’t have that kind of money on such short notice.

I’ve been trying to stay on top of things financially, but this completely knocked the wind out of me. I’m scrambling to figure out a backup plan, but right now I really need help just to stay housed.
