Meet Cody, a sweet 7-year-old Beagle with the biggest smile and a heart full of love. Cody spends his days snuggling with his nana, playing with his dog sister Daisy, and snoozing beside his mommy while she works. He's a gentle soul who gives the best puppy kisses and brings joy to everyone who meets him.

But on Thursday, June 12th, Cody’s world was shattered. While running and playing outside with Daisy, someone cruelly shot Cody with a BB gun, and thirteen BBs were found lodged in his small body. One of them caused a serious abscess that required extensive emergency surgery to remove the infected tissue and save his life.

Cody's vet bills have now totaled $8,900, and while he's on the road to recovery, we are still heartbroken and seeking justice. We are working closely with Hanover Animal Control to identify the person responsible and hold them accountable. We hope that in time, they will be required to pay for the harm they caused.

Until then, we are asking for help. Every donation, big or small, goes directly to Cody’s care. If we’re able to recover the cost of his medical bills through legal means, any remaining funds will be donated to Richmond Animal Care & Control and Hanover Community Cats, to help other animals in need.
