Support 3rd Gen Army Vet Rebuild Post Helene

Phillip is facing hospitalization from the frigid temps and multiple conditions the VA diagnosed him with, just days before Helene flooded our apartment in September 2024. Thanks to the survival training from his time in the Army & National Guard, a lot of what he learned in Ft. Dix NJ where he attended boot camp at 17, has helped us make it through that difficult time.

Right before the storm the VA diagnosed him wit
h an abdominal aortic aneurysm close to rupturing, cardiovascular disease, 2 nodules on his lungs, overactive thyroid & hernias in his groin, he had to apply for disability which they said would be 7 months of waiting.

Down to just my income and waiting on Fema has made it difficult for us financially. Luckily, we received a camper through Emergency RV.

Due to the lack of rental properties in Clay Co, NC where we flooded, we were not able to find a place to rent and park the camper nearby, and moved about 40 miles away just over the NC line to GA.

This made us 3 hours away from areas where these distribution hubs that have supplies to winterize campers being given out and other things to survivors. As a result, we haven't been able to stay warm in our camper due to finances preventing us to be able to purchase these items ourselves.

With the health issues he has, and the propane tanks running out every day and a half, and other bills including rent, utilities, car insurance, gas, and food, we are struggling to stay warm.

Our propane i am told would last longer if we winterize our camper by installing skirting, filling holes where lines enter, heater under camper, and a few other things. Our water lines are frozen each day even when we keep the cabinet doors open and space heaters on.

Prior to Helene we had a small handyman business and hope that once we get through the frigid temps and some appointment to further evaluate the medical conditions he has, that he will be able to continue doing what he loves and pick up with his business.

Maybe FEMA will come through, but we are not counting on that at this time and just trying to avoid any more problems with his immune system so weak which is a major part of his recovery.

With your support we would be able to purchase foam boards to put under the bottom of the camper, and some other supplies to winterize the rv. If we have any funds left over, we will use them for car repairs to our car that needs work after it went off the road in the flood and cracked the frame. Attached is the repair estimate as well.

Thank you for your support and even if you can't help please share! Our goal is to donate this camper to another family once we secure a more permanent residence which we hope to do within 2 months.
