On September 6th, my husband Jake had a terrible accident. He fell and broke his clavicle in three places. He now needs emergency surgery tomorrow to reattach the bone with screws and plates so it can heal properly. His surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, but the cost is overwhelming: $17,000.

Luckily, insurance will be covering most of it but we still have a $2,500 copay. Unfortunately, the timing couldn’t be worse. I just had my own surgery the day before my birthday, and with both of us recovering, we don’t have enough to cover his copay while also keeping up with our rent and bills.

Jake is only 33 and has always been my biggest supporter. Since we got married in April, we’ve leaned on each other through every challenge, but right now, we have to ask for help.
