Emergency help for Ruthanne

Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,

I wanted to update you on what is happening with Ruthanne.  She is temporarily living with family, and as soon as she can clean up an RV that is on a vacant lot, she and the children will be living there.  For how long?  We don't know for sure.  Her little boy, who is 5, has been sick for 3 days, but as of this morning is doing better.  She has started the arduous process of contacting FEMA and the Red Cross, etc.  as she has no means of income for now.

Your donations will certainly help sustain them for a while, but things are still very much up in the air as the town of Paradise pretty much does not exist any longer.   I will be depositing the funds into Ruthanne's bank account within the next week or as soon as she decides what she is going to do with regards to her bank.

From Ruthanne....Thank you again, everyone, for your thoughts and prayers and financial support

Judi

As many of you already know, last week my dear friend Ruthanne Fiesel’s house, belongings, and workplace were lost in the fire that tore through the town of Paradise, which is about 70 miles from where I live.  Ruthanne and her children escaped the fire with only the clothes on their back, the car they escaped in, and some family photos.  She told me she could feel the heat on her cheek through the driver’s side window as she was driving out of town, all the while trying to stay as calm as possible so as not to scare her children.  I can’t even begin to imagine what I would do in a situation like this!

I have known Ruthanne for 19 years, since she was 15 years old when she and I were “matched” in a mentor program.  For the past 5 years, she has pretty much been on her own raising her three children ages 12, 5, and 2.  Until the fire struck, she made ends meet by running a licensed child care facility out of her home 5 days a week.  Since the fire, she has been staying with family in Penn Valley, but she needs to find a more permanent solution closer to her home and out of fire danger.  She doesn’t know yet what she is going to do to earn a living, but she has always been a very resourceful person, and I know she will find something.  She is smart, strong-willed, and determined, and she’ll come through this ordeal stronger than she went in.  In the meantime, I am hoping to raise between $5,000 and $7,000 to help her through this very difficult time so she can start to get back on her feet.  I am 100% confident that Ruthanne will spend whatever money she receives responsibly.

In the midst of all that is happening in our country and our world, it feels more important than ever to me to look after our neighbors, friends, and loved ones.  Any amount you are able to give to help Ruthanne get back on her feet will be most appreciated.  Thank you so much for reading this, and, in advance, for any support you are able to give.

With love and gratitude,
Judi
