12/18/25 I’m asking for help for my fur baby Russell. We are currently at the veterinary ER. He’s having GI bleeding and his platelet count is 0 - so they’re are now recommending I take him to a special veterinary hospital. The bills are going to be astronomical and I don’t know what to do. I can’t not try to get him the medical care he needs. Any little bit helps. I’m embarrassed to even ask.

***UPDATE 12/19/25***

He’s now been admitted to VMCLI in West Islip. He’s has been diagnosed with ITP - his autoimmune system is attacking his platelets which is causing bleeding. He’s being treated with blood transfusions, immunosuppressants and all these other things I can’t pronounce or remember! This all happened in a matter of hours! His decline was so rapid! The critical care vet said it might’ve been from his vaccinations in October. I can’t believe this is happening! Please keep Russell in your prayers!

****UPDATE 12/20/25****

Received a good call from the doctor this morning. He was coned last night for messing with his wires. She said he’s doing good today, his vitals are more or less stable but the bleeding hasn’t stopped completely. He now needs to eat. They tried baby food and he didn’t really eat much. They also gave him another transfusion. We’re moving in the right direction but he still has hurdles to overcome!
