Emergency help for my family in Venezuela
Donation protected
Hello, for those who don’t know me my name is Deb and I am a Venezuelan immigrant living in Seattle for some time now.
I need to make an emergency trip to my homeland to help my family and renew my passport.
My mother and I fully support my grandparents and uncle from afar. Because of how dangerous and desperate it is in Venezuela in general, most of our family has fled the country. We don’t have any family that can check in on my grandparents and help during an emergency. Unfortunately there’s only so much that we can do without physically being there…
My grandmother is ill and severely epileptic. I need funds to help pay for her medications, exams and doctor’s visits. I also need tools and supplies to make some urgent repairs to our family home.
The state of my grandparent’s home is quickly deteriorating. They don’t have consistent access to water or electricity, and it is affecting their health and overall livelihood.
I am planning on fixing most urgently:
1.The roof, which is just single layers of metal sheets. It will stop water from coming into the house and causing damage and electrical hazard
2.A new gas stovetop. They have been using an electric hot plate to cook for the past 3 years. (While not having consistent access to electricity)
3.Tree removal. There is a dead tree right over our house that is close to collapsing and a huge risk
These are the three most urgent things, but there are other things that I would like to get fixed like filling cement cracks in the floors and walls, painting exterior and interior etc all of which I will be doing myself to help cut costs.
I am also spending $600 more or less to get my Venezuelan passport renewed.
I am very nervous going home knowing I can’t afford to do any of this on my own. I’m hoping friends, family and people in my community will take the time to help in any way possible. It really takes a toll on my mental health knowing the state of my family back home. I am so so so grateful for those who have already helped my family in the past. I am actively working towards being able to support my family and myself so I never have to make one of these again. But for now I am asking for your help, donating in any capacity, sharing or knowledge on how to fix things in general is deeply appreciated. I’ll never forget it, Thank you ❤️
