Hi everyone, my name is Harisat Fatai, I am in dire need of financial help as I am a survivor of domestic violence throughout my marriage. I have 4 children and 3 with my estranged husband/abuser. I live in the Greater Atlanta metro area. My children and I have gone through a complicated ordeal, I have been trying to get a clean and clear divorce for nearly 3 years. Throughout the years of my marriage, I have been hospitalized numerous times with eye injuries and orbital fractures, and due to that, I have ongoing issues with my tear ducts. I have had a miscarriage due to domestic violence and was also forced into getting an abortion on a separate occasion. My estranged husband has done a great deal to minimize all that he has done to me, quieting those who know the truth, and shunning me so that nobody will listen to me.

Throughout the entire lengthy court process, I have felt victimized all over again each time I am in court, picked apart, scrutinized, and even laughed at. My estranged husband and abuser hardly ever held to account has been able to do unheard-of, and unnatural things throughout the court proceedings.

I find myself in a very financially difficult position with exorbitant legal fees that would be extremely difficult for me to pay off at once. I owe an outstanding balance of $66,231.53 to the law firm that handled my divorce. I also have a Guardian Ad Litem who was assigned to my divorce case and has requested a new retainer of $2500 and outstanding fees of 50% of $195 and $660 which would be impossible for me to raise in a short span of time considering my financial situation, and the fact I am not gainfully employed with guaranteed monthly income.

If I can raise at least 50% of that will be helpful towards my divorce proceedings. I will greatly appreciate any donation big or small. I have decided to choose life and walk away from a marriage that has done my kids and I a significant amount of harm.

Update: The funds will be used towards hiring adequate counsel to appeal the judgment of custody being awarded to my abusive ex-husband and regaining physical custody of my 3 small children.

Transcripts for all hearings in my divorce on the following days April 29th, 2024, April 30th, 2024, July 29th, 2024, and July 30th, 2024 must be transcribed and the total cost is $3789.
