Emergency Help for Lance, Diane & Tweed Couch

Omaha was hit with huge hurricane-force winds early Saturday morning, July 10th. Over 30,000 people are still without power, but I am creating this gofundme to help my mom, Diane, and her husband, Lance, specifically.

Diane and Lance have created a gorgeous, lush oasis in Omaha and her seasonal store, Tweed Couch, is beloved by so many in the community. Many are drawn there and come to love it not only because of Diane and Lance's welcoming and accommodating personalities, but because of the peaceful surroundings: lush trees, beautiful plants and flowers, a quaint garden and guest house, an inspirational interiors store.

Since the storm, they have been without power, like many others, but are unlikely to regain it any time soon. They are the only home on their transformer, putting them at the end of the repair list. This is the least of their worries. They are mainly heartbroken over the loss of many, many 70 year-old trees, all around 45 feet tall, that were lost in the storm. Their neighbors were quick to help with the immediate aftermath, as seen in these photos, but they can not possibly handle the huge job on their own. They have been quoted upwards of $10,000 to remove all the dangerous limbs, huge fallen trees, and massive amounts of debris. Insurance will not cover any of the costs because the house and structures were not damaged enough to make a claim. Diane and Lance will be responsible for the clearing and removal of everything.

If you know Diane and Lance, you know they are the first people to help out in a hardship, and I know so many people in our community know that about them and would love to be able to return the favor or extend the gesture. My mother is one of the most hardworking people I know, I can actually see Diane and Lance out there now wielding chainsaws and working through all of this on their own, but I would love to see them with a bit of help during this time.

If you are able, please consider making a donation to help lighten the financial load these repairs require. We thank you so much and can not wait to see them back on their feet. Lots of love to you all.
