Emergency Help for Jim and Janet Jensen
Donation protected
My name is Jennifer Jensen, and on behalf of my sister, Jessica, and my brother, Jimmy, we 3 are launching a campaign to help my parents--Jim and Janet Jensen--with emergent medical and living expenses.
This past November 2020, near Thanksgiving, Dad contracted COVID while he had pneumonia and pre-existing COPD. He was hospitalized for a week because of his lung's inability to properly function and his extremely low oxygen levels. Dad just couldn't breath.
He was released on his birthday, December 15, 2020, but his lungs still were not able to receive enough oxygen.
Dad was taken via ambulance to the local hospital once again on January 1, 2020 because his oxygen levels were extremely low.
Dad texted me on January 2nd, that he was having a CT scan for blockage in the main artery of his heart, and that he was being transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. to have a heart stent procedure.
We learned from Good Samaritan Hospital that, on top of everything else, he had a heart attack.
His main artery was successfully unblocked, but both his heart and lungs were damaged and in need of support, and Dad was placed on a ventilator for the next 7 days.
Previously, in July of 2020, Dad had successfully beaten prostate cancer while battling another form of cancer, a leukemia. His cardiologist recommended he stop taking his leukemia medicine, as it could affect his heart recovery.
Throughout the years, our mom has had several neck and back surgeries. The most severe surgery was a complete spinal repair/fusion from her neck to her tailbone in December of 2018 in Denver, the same year Dad was diagnosed with cancer.
She has also had muscular reparation surgery to help the damaged muscles due to her spine.
Neither of our parents are able to work currently, and need a boost to get to the next phase of decision-making for their future. We were told that Dad would spend one week in a care home for each day he was on the ventilator, 7-8 weeks, but for now, he is still in the hospital.
Mom's physical condition does not allow her to walk long distances and limits her mobility, namely standing for extended periods of time and turning her head. Monthly living expenses and medical bills are a reality for all of us, and we know so many are suffering. Even with insurance and supplemental insurance, our parents are struggling.
Dad lost his benefits while being off work, and without either income, times are very tough. But, he was given a miracle in January. Surviving all of this! Now, we want to help raise their spirits in recovery.
If you feel you can help Jim and Janet during this time, it would be so greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and if you feel led to contribute, thank you for giving. We covet your prayers moving forward. God bless you and thank you for kindness.
