Hi everyone,
I never imagined I would be writing something like this. Tonight, my mom’s sweet chihuahua Jack was mauled by a husky/chow mix outside her building.
As they were heading into the building, Jack and the chow were barking at each other. They continued walking and the other dog was briefly out of sight. While she was trying to unlock the door, the other owner walked across the parking lot, and Jack suddenly saw the dog again and ran. She had his leash in her hand, but wasn’t holding it tightly enough, and he slipped free. The larger dog immediately grabbed him, and despite the owner’s efforts, he couldn’t get the dog to release Jack right away.
Jack has suffered serious life threatening injuries. His stomach was ripped open from top to bottom, his groin was ripped open and his organs are hanging out ( his bowels and intestines, he has bite wounds to his neck and ear (including inside the ear), and injuries to his eye. He was also bitten underneath his armpit which the doctors are most worried about along with the organ wound.. they’re not sure if there’s any damage done to his heart or any other vital organs At this moment, the vets have determined he needs to be watched over night, sedated and rushed into surgery early morning.
The emergency care and surgery are going to be significant -between $8,000 to $10,000 !! And for tonight‘s overnight check up and observation was $ 3, 885- thank God for a family member who paid that for her my mom cannot afford the surgery though This his only chance of survival . She is not one to ask for handouts or help, but she recently rescued him and cannot do this on her own .
One thing I truly believe saved his life is that he was wearing a thick, puffy winter coat at the time of the attack. If he hadn’t been, the outcome could have been far worse. We are beyond grateful for that small miracle.
If you are able to donate, share, or send prayers and positive thoughts, it would mean more than anything . My mom is a mess . Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can offer during this incredibly difficult time. (I will be posting the total amount of surgery with paper tomorrow morning)
Thank you friends ,
