I started volunteering with my local community’s Angel Tree program about a decade ago. Over the years, some families and their stories stay with you. One in particular has: a kind mother and her beyond-sweet little boy.

Their husband and father passed away tragically — that’s all I know — and ever since, it’s been the two of them against the world. Every Christmas, I’d see their names on our list and be reminded of their quiet strength and gentle spirits.

About three years ago, I gave the mom my cell number — just in case she ever needed anything. She never asked for help outside of what we offered at Christmas. Instead, she’d send me holiday greetings or simple “hope you’re having a good day” texts.

Tonight, she finally called — scared, sad, and in a very tough situation. She’s been harassed and threatened, given an illegal three-day eviction notice, and her only mode of transportation intentionally damaged.

We’ve connected her with some legal advice and helped with immediate needs, but she and her son are still facing serious challenges.

Right now, I’m raising funds to help cover some urgent expenses:

• 4 RV tires (ST205/75R14 sm) and labor

• 4 truck tires (P235/70R16)

• A few months of RV park rent & storage unit

I estimated about $3,500 to cover just these needs. There will surely be more obstacles ahead, but I believe helping them stabilize now will give them a chance to get back on their feet and move forward.

Their privacy is precious to me, so I can’t share more details — but you have my word that every cent donated will go directly to this mother and son.
