Hi, my name is Christa, and I never imagined I’d be in a position where I needed to ask for help like this — but this year has brought more hardship than we could ever prepare for.
Over the past year, my family has been hit with a series of overwhelming challenges. My partner, Chris, was out of work due to surgery and recovery, and while we relied on workers’ compensation during that time, those payments have recently stopped. We are now actively dealing with the workers’ comp situation, which has left us without income we were counting on and unsure of when it will be resolved.
Because of this, our finances have steadily fallen behind, anyone who has ever had to deal with a workers comp situation, should completely understand this. We’ve experienced a car repossession, faced eviction twice, and now my current vehicle has suffered a blown engine. The cost to replace the engine is more than we can afford (7k), leaving us with no option but to try to purchase another vehicle just to be able to work and manage daily responsibilities.
I have tried to keep positive during all of this, I have gone above and beyond to work as much as I was able to while still taking care of my family. We had just gotten to the point where the sun was about to shine through and I thought that I would end the year back on track and then life slammed me yet again.
Unfortunately, the financial strain of this year has also negatively impacted my credit, making purchasing a vehicle far more difficult than we ever imagined. Because of my credit situation, I would need a much larger down payment to secure reliable transportation — something we simply don’t have right now.
On top of everything, the holidays are here. I have an 8 yead old child, and while I know gifts aren’t everything, I’m doing my best to hold onto some sense of normalcy and magic for him during a time that’s been incredibly stressful and uncertain.
I’m asking for help to:
Catch up on upcoming rent and essential bills
Contribute toward a necessary down payment on a reliable vehicle
Relieve immediate financial pressure so we can stabilize and move forward
Make sure my child can still have a small Christmas
Any amount truly helps — whether it’s a donation, sharing this page, or simply sending support our way. If you’ve ever felt like life kept hitting you when you were already down, you understand how hard it is to ask for help.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any kindness you’re able to share. It means more than I can put into words.
With gratitude,
Christa
12/21/25 Update~ Firstly, a HUGE THANK YOU to those who have donated, I appreciate it more than you will ever know!
I am still very uncertain as to what is going to happen, I spoke with an associate at Kia regarding my car a few days back and was told that in order to have my engine replaced, Id have to make payment in full in order to have the car released, he told me if I don't act soon, they are going to start charging storage fees for my vehicle, he gave me until after Christmas to contact them regarding what I've decided. I am still extremely far off from the 7k total he quoted me. I also have bills and rent coming up that I have to focus on paying as well. I was able to use some of the money to get my son some Christmas presents, which was something that I was worried about as well, so that is one thing off my plate. I have tried applying for loans, but was denied and without a cosigner most other places wouldn't even likely give me a glance. It's a shame that life depends so much on credit, especially when you work your butt off to provide for your family. I just want to thank my friends and coworkers, you guys mean the world to me and I don't know what I'd do without your support and helping me get to and from work and places I need to be. I hate feeling like a burden and they have really showed me that family isn't always blood, that those who care most are usually your friends.
