This gofundme is to raise emergency funds for my dear friend Lakhiyia who is in an urgent fight to keep their housing in Charlotte, NC and and the base of operations for HOMEplxce Retreats, their impactful community organization.

Lakhiyia endured a life threatening recurrence of a heart condition which left them unable to work for extended periods of time and laboring to keep up with medical bills. As a result, they are in imminent danger of being evicted, which would mean that not only do they lose their housing, but HOMEplxce would not be able to continue its important work.

Community, I’m reaching out for support. Please help.

Lakhiyia is an incredibly talented and generous artist, educator, and healer, who I’ve known since we were grad students together. Upon moving to Charlotte and seeing the need, Lakhiyia transformed their home into a space to serve people who serve the community, believing that we each get to be well as we seek to do good in the world.

The “Inner Child Healing Sanctuary” they created is a live/work space that provides resource navigation, respite, retreat, and meeting space, physical and emotional healing services, and more to those doing important work to support community and need support themselves.

Lakhiyia is ALWAYS supporting others, and needs our support RIGHT NOW.
