Emergency funds to pay my son's caregiver
Donation protected
TLDR; Due to Medicaid negligence my disabled son's caregiver is not getting paid for a month.
Hi, I'm Emily and I am the mother to a son who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a progressive muscle-wasting disease.
It's just the two of us now since his father passed unexpectedly 2 years ago today(August 21st), the timing for this extra stress makes it that much harder. Dean can not walk and can barely use his arms. He is completely dependent on others for his daily care needs, eating, using the restroom, retrieving things, etc. He can't even reposition himself in bed independently.
I have to work full-time to support us, so I need a caregiver to help him. I am fortunate enough that we are on a waiver through the state to help pay, but due to Medicaid's negligence, there has been a lapse in his coverage for August. His case worker said, "His renewal was received in a timely manner, however, it was not processed by Medicaid in a timely manner".
This means his caregiver, Miss Barbara, will not be paid, she has bills to pay and I can not pay her bills on top of my own. I had an impossible time finding a caregiver for him in the first place, so if I lose her I don't know how I'll find anyone else.
I have exhausted every resource and have been on the phone for 3 days for 12 hours or more and spoken to at least 15 different people. I am still working on it and if a miracle happens I will cancel this and refund everything to everyone. I absolutely hate asking for help but I'm trying everything I can to fix this.
If I don't have a caregiver to help him I will lose my job and then my son and I will lose everything. If anyone has any questions, would like proof of anything, etc. please feel free to message me.
