Emergency Funds For Refugee Diagnosed With Cancer

Hola, familia! A dear friend of mine, Ana, urgently needs community help. Ana was diagnosed with colon cancer this week and finds herself having to keep up with rent, food, transportation, and medical bills, on a part-time custodian income and while processing physical and emotional pain and grief.

Ana is a refugee from Venezuela and arrived in St. Louis, Missouri, alone in 2024 through the U.S. refugee program. Like many others, she was promised social support and material assistance, but due to the ending of the U.S. refugee program in 2025, she is without federal aid. She does not know anyone except for a couple of other refugees in the community and myself and is also supporting family back home.

We are seeking initial emergency funds to cover immediate needs (rent, food, and Metro transit fees) as she decides whether to move forward with chemotherapy or return home to Venezuela to be with family. Ana is like family to me, and your support would mean the world! Muchas gracias por su apoyo :)
